Já são conhecidos os nomeados dos Globos de Ouro 2016. A Associação de Jornalistas Estrangeiros de Hollywood (HFPA) voltou a ter uma atitude estranha relativamente às comédias nas categorias de cinema, já que incluiu nestas categorias projetos como "The Big Short" e "The Martian" que, para o público geral, enquadram-se noutros géneros cinematográficos. Esta não é a primeira vez que isto acontece, sendo de conhecimento público que a HFPA faz por norma esta divisão para tentar premiar o máximo de atores e filmes de relevo, daí a estranha presença de Matt Damon ou Christian Bale na categoria de Melhor Ator Numa Comédia . Também neste sentido, "The Martian" e "The Big Short" vão concorrer com as comédias "Joy", "Spy" e "Trainwreck" pelo prémio de Melhor Comédia, já "Carol", "Mad Max: Fury Road", "The Revenant", "Room" e "Spotlight" disputarão o prémio de Melhor Drama. As restantes nomeações não causam surpresa, sendo apenas de destacar a ausência de Charlotte Rampling da lista de nomeadas a Melhor Atriz Num Drama. Nas categorias de televisão não há tanta polémica como nas de cinema, estando tudo organizado de uma forma mais correta. As séries "Mr. Robot", "Empire", "Game of Thrones", "Outlander", "House of Cards", "Veep" e "Orange is the New Black" estão em destaque entre os nomeados, não existindo muitas surpresas na lista revelada. Os Globos de ouro serão atribuídos a 10 de Janeiro numa cerimónia que será apresentada por Ricky Gervais.
