Já são conhecidos os nomeados aos Globos de Ouro, uns dos prémios mais importantes da época de prémios de Hollywood, cuja importância mediática só fica atrás dos Óscares. E quando se esperava que "A Star is Born" e "Green Book" fossem liderar as nomeações eis que surge "Vice", um dos últimos grandes candidatos aos Óscares a estrear nos Estados Unidos e que, aparentemente, confirmou o seu favoritismo com 6 Nomeações, incluindo Melhor Filme Comédia e Melhor Realizador (Adam McKay). Mas calma, "A Star is Born", "Green Book" e "The Favourite", todos com 5 nomeações cada, mantêm-se como favoritos em muitas categorias, sendo de esperar uma luta interessante entre os dois últimos pelo Globo de Ouro de Melhor Filme Comédia/Musical.
Entre os restantes favoritos destaque para os blockbusters "Mary Poppins Returns" que, sem surpresa, parece confirmar as boas indicações nesta época. No lado oposto ficou "The First Man", um dos candidatos principais iniciais que não conseguiu nenhuma nomeação principal, tendo-se ficado por duas nomeações nas categorias de Banda Sonora e Atriz Secundária. Fora da corrida ficaram algumas sensações indie, como "First Reformed" ou "Hereditary". Ao contrário do que se esperava, a Netflix também não brilhou nas nomeações, tendo apenas conseguido chegar a uma nomeação ao Óscar de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro por "Roma" que é, desde logo, o grande favorito! Entre as surpresas destaque para as nomeações obtidas pela comédia "Crazy Ritch Asians", que conquistou até uma para o Globo de Ouro de Melhor Comédia/Musical, mas também "BlacKkKlansman" que, sem espaço na Comédia, conseguiu uma nomeação para Melhor Drama, juntamente com "Black Panther", mas nesta categoria o título parece reservado para "A Star is Born". Tirando este prémio, que está praticamente entregue, so mesmo a categoria de Melhor Canção parece estar decidida à partida, como “Shallow” (“A Star Is Born”) a ser a clara favorita. Também "The Incredibles 2" parece confirmar o seu favoritismo na categoria de Animação.
Na representação, Lady Gaga (Melhor Atriz Drama - A Star is Born), Rami Malek (Melhor Ator Drama -Bohemian Rhapsody), Christian Bale (Melhor Ator Comédia - Vice), Emma Stone (Melhor Atriz Secundária - The Favourite) e Mahershala Ali (Ator Secundário - Green Book) parecem lidar as respetivas corridas, existindo grande equilíbrio na categoria de Melhor Atriz Comédia.
Os Globos de Ouro são também prémios para Televisão. Sem "Game of Thrones" para dominar a conversa e as nomeações, os destaques recaíram em escolhas similares às dos Emmys, sendo de destacar o favoritismo inicial de "The Handmaid's Tale" e "The Americans" nas categorias de Drama e de "The Good Place" nas categorias de comédia.
